Players We’ve Missed: Thomas Vermaelen
The World Cup is over and the days are just getting longer as we wait for our favorite players to return from vacation and for club football to restart (unless, of course, you are one of the lucky few MLS fans). Still, we were all witness to some very talented, very gorgeous men during the World Cup, so we can’t really complain. However, there are just as many fantastic players who did not get the opportunity to kick it in South Africa and deserve just as much love and fangirling as the rest (and probably need it more). Thus, I present you with a new feature: “Players We’ve Missed,” or alternatively, “Hottest Players Not to Play at the World Cup”. The goal? To provide old-timers with pictures of their favorite players, and for all you lovelies who are new to the game, to hopefully introduce you to someone else to fangirl other than Fernando Torres. Why should you support him?
This man can best be summarized by one word: fierce. He’s been an immediate favorite with Arsenal fans when he scored a fantastic header in his Premier League debut and Arsenal’s opening blowout (6-1) against Everton FC. Since then he has played a key role in Arsenal’s defense last season with 45 starts (notable considering Arsenal’s injury plagued season) and coupled with his impressive performances for the national team, caused the manager of the Belgium NT to promote him to captain. He may be a defender but he also has a remarkable goal count, scoring 8 for Arsenal, including a marvelous strike against Wigan that even Robin Van Persie admitted he would be proud of. Thomas Vermaelen is handsome with cheekbones that could cut ice, and he offers up a fantastic amount of tounge porn. What is there not to love?
